Mooipan is a Classic Bushveld Hunting & Eco Paradise with just on 4000 Acres of Pristine African Bush.
Situated near Lephalale in the North-Western Limpopo Province of South Africa, Mooipan is a game breeding and hunting farm with an abundance of species including Eland, Kudu, Sable, Oryx, Waterbuck, Zebra, Nyala, Impala, Red Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest and Warthog. Other species include Giraffe, Duiker, Steenbok, Jackal, Aardwolf, Brown Hyena, Aardvark, and the occasional Leopard. Mooipan has a wide variety of birds and typical Bushveld flora – overall a true paradise for hunting and eco-tourism with safe hiking trails and ideal for off-road cycling. |
The two high-end Mooipan homesteads are around 900 meters apart. The thatch roofed main homestead (which evolved from the original farm house) overlooks a large pan. It includes a swimming pool and a traditional barbecue Lapa. It can easily accommodate 12-14 persons and has a comfortable farm-style lounge-living room, a fully equipped kitchen with refrigeration and icemaker, plus ample bathroom and shower facilities. A second homestead (for many years the local post office) has similar conveniences and can accommodate 6 or more guests in comfort. |
Mooipan offers the best biltong, venison and trophy hunting opportunities, and has a well-equipped slaughter and cold storage facility.
A three-hour plus drive from the Johannesburg-Pretoria metropole, Mooipan also has its own runway suitable for light piston or turboprop (Pilatus PC12, Beech King Air 90 or 200 or Cessna Caravan) aircraft. Air transit directly from OR Tambo International Airport near Johannesburg can have International visitors arriving at Mooipan within an hour of arriving in Johannesburg. The nearby Steenbokpan village offers fuel and basic shopping facilities and is also the venue of the well-known Bushveld Pub & Grill which recently featured in a popular local TV series. |
