The main homestead complex, with Lapa (traditional barbecue enclosure) and pool overlooks the pan from which the Mooipan farm name is derived.
Free-roaming Nyala often frequent the homestead vicinity, and the twin-track roads emanating from the homestead offer wonderful opportunities for short or extended hikes, bird watching and game viewing.

The absence of dangerous wild life (elephants, buffalo, rhino, lion etc) plus the extent of soft, sandy, rock-free twin track roads make for ideal circumstances for off-road cycling combined with game- and bird-watching. Mountain bikes can work for the very fit, but we recommend that you bring a fatboy (thick-wheeled bicycle - see picture below).
With some 50 Miles (80 Km) of generally flat but sandy twin-track, there is no limit to the extent of riding you can do here, but be sure to either be fit, or plan on getting fit! And let it be known that the Bushveld abounds with camel thorn trees, to which no bicycle tyre is immune! A tyre repair kit, and even better, a few cans of “slime” (self-sealing fluid) will do the job.
