We at Mooipan recognise that the expectations vary for each and every member of visiting groups, and we accordingly offer hunting options to suit individual requirements. We deliberately avoid the dangerous species such as rhino, buffalo or lion, so movement on foot on the farm is generally safe, albeit that one should always be mindful thereof that you will be hunting in African bushveld country
There is an abundance of hunting species on the farm incl. Eland, Kudu, Sable, Oryx, Waterbuck, Zebra, Nyala, Impala, Red Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest and Warthog. The farm is fully secured with an electric game/security perimeter fence (fully 24 Km or 15 Miles of it!), which is also the basis for it having been granted a year-round hunting permit. The farm has more than 30 miles (50 Km) of primary twin-track, and not much less again of secondary, winding twin-track. Shooting ranges are generally between 50 and 150 yards. Hunting of buffalo can be arranged on nearby farms by prior arrangement. There are around thirty giraffe on the farm, and our objective being to limit the herd size on the farm and hence to control the ecological pressure on the bush, giraffe hunting can be arranged by exception. We are also developing several single track routes, each designed such as to start on foot from, and end at the main homestead, for those who this prefer that option, but be sure to study the kit, gear and clothing recommendations. Above all, we urge that you arrive well prepared:
